Augusta Museum of History “Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown” Exhibit

In early December 2017, Nancy Glaser Executive Director of the Augusta Museum of History, invited The Merging Lanes Project in to get a behind the scenes look at their “Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown” exhibit. During this time images of the exhibit, which is currently part of their permanent collection, were captured. Glaser also disclosed a bit about how and why the exhibit honoring famed singer, James Brown’s legacy came to be.

Key talking points include:

  • James Brown was an artist, respected and known internationally
  • Soon after joining the Augusta Museum of History staff, Glaser found that there were a number of local stories not being told. Her work and the support of the board of directors has resulted in the museum including the history of local talent such as James Brown’s.
